Unleashed compute performance

IMG DXS delivers up to 10x generational performance boost for common compute workloads like driver monitoring and collision avoidance compared to our previous generation automotive GPUs. This uplift comes from heavily co-optimised hardware and software.

Hardware improvements include an additional FP16 pipeline, which when combined with the extra SPU triples the performance of lower-precision operations compared to previous generations of GPUs. IMG DXS also supports a broad range of low precision number formats and features a memory architecture optimised for compute workloads.

Optimal developer workflows

Imagination makes it easy for developers to accelerate AI applications for IMG DXS.

It is supported by new compute software that leverage open standards like oneAPI. These assets enable developers to follow a fit-for-purpose “functional to performant to optimal” workflow typical of today’s edge compute application development cycles.

The compute software includes a new set of OpenCL compute libraries (imgBLAS, imgNN, imgFFT) that help software developers achieve up to 80% GPU utilisation for common compute workloads, and Imagination reference toolkits to achieve high performance through oneAPI applications or TVM TensorGraph inferencing.

With IMG DXS, Imagination introduced a new approach to delivering functionally safe processing logic at dramatically lower power and area when compared to established methods of controlling faults and errors, resulting in higher performance safety-related workloads.

Distributed Safety Mechanisms leverages the new, patented Safety Pairs technique to achieve ASIL-B coverage at double the performance, or half the area, of existing solutions.

Software and safety standards support

IMG DXS supports OpenGL ES, Vulkan, OpenGL and OpenCL as well as safety critical versions of OpenGL and Vulkan. It can run Linux and Android as well as popular automotive operating systems.

Imagination partners with CoreAVI, the global leader in architecting and delivering safety critical graphics and compute software drivers and libraries, on the development of a safety critical driver for Imagination GPUs.

IMG DXD is the first product in a new line of high-performance GPU IP with support for DirectX. Starting with DirectX Feature Level 11_0, IMG DXD is designed for cloud gaming and desktop graphics experiences, with API coverage to run popular PC games and Windows-based applications.
